Waipawa
New Zealand > North Island > Hawke's Bay
Waipawa Golf Club traces back to 1910 near Abbotsford, relocating twice before members settled the current Tapairu Road site in the 1970s - marked with a golden jubilee in 2025. Early development was a genuine group effort, with members clearing an overgrown, rocky paddock and even picking up stones between shots to make it playable; Sir George Hunter donated championship cups as early as 1913. Cyclone Gabrielle damaged four fairways in recent years, and the club has since introduced a shorter Yellow Course option to fit modern time-poor golfers alongside the main layout.
