4.3 (Provisional rating) Waikohu Golf Course is a nine-hole slice of East Coast heartland near Te Karaka, about 35 minutes from Gisborne, where grazing livestock and fences around the greens are simply part of the round. Strong par 4s and cheeky ravine carries add genuine challenge among the rolling farmland, and an active airstrip nearby occasionally interrupts play overhead. It runs on an honesty box system with club days on Sundays - a genuinely no-fuss day out in the hills.
