4.1 (Provisional rating) Waikaia Golf Club traces back to 1935, when the first game was played in a local farmer's paddock, before the club was formally established roughly three decades later - it marked its 50th anniversary in 2018. The nine-hole course still reflects those informal, community-driven roots in Northern Southland's small Waikaia settlement, a modest rural club built up from genuinely humble beginnings.
