GolfWise 4.2

Turangi Golf Club sits on the edge of Tongariro National Park, its eighteen holes sculpted into the land more than half a century ago using heavy machinery donated by Italian tunnelling contractor Alessandro del Favero, who was then working on the Tongariro Power Development. Locals Ian Patience and Barry Campbell got the original nine-hole project moving in the mid-1960s, and the course later expanded to eighteen using a former workers' canteen as its clubhouse. Three elevated greens open up views of Lake Taupo and Mount Pihanga, and the par-4 8th, with a tee looking straight over the lake, is the signature hole.
