Tuatapere
New Zealand > South Island > Southland
Tuatapere Golf Club runs a flat parkland course over 5,501 metres for two rounds of nine, par 72, with mature trees, water hazards and hedgerow-lined fairways near the southwestern tip of the South Island. Bellbird Terrace, a par 4 at the far end of the course, lives up to its name with birdsong a regular accompaniment, and quirky touches - sculptures echoing Queenstown's The Hills, a deer-horn-decorated long-drop at the 8th - add local character. The club, close to the Clifton Suspension Bridge and Hump Ridge Track, bills itself as Southland's best nine-hole course and runs on a simple honesty-box system.
