4.2 Tirau Golf Club began in 1921 as a nine-hole course and shifted between member farms several times before settling into its current eighteen-hole layout in 1974, under a lease and purchase deal with Matamata County Council. The par-66 course sits just off State Highways 1 and 27, a comfortable three-hour walk for most players, with cart hire available for those who'd rather ride. Nana Lou's Cafe caters on club days, and the clubhouse hosts weddings and functions for up to 100 guests.
