4.4 Tinwald Golf Club was established in 1967 on reserve land next to the Tinwald Domain in Ashburton, about a kilometre west of State Highway 1. The eighteen-hole course is predominantly flat and easy-walking, with tree-lined fairways and several waterways meandering through the layout for genuine water-hazard variety. A full programme of pennant competitions and championship events keeps it an active part of the Mid Canterbury golfing scene.
