Rotorua golf course

Rotorua (Arikikapakapa)

New Zealand > North Island > Bay of Plenty

GolfWise 4.1

Golf has been played at Arikikapakapa Reserve since 1912, when Rotorua Golf Club (established 1906) relocated to land gifted by Ngati Whakaue for recreation and the medicinal use of its hot springs - and the geothermal character remains the course's defining feature today. The club's own site puts the links-style layout at a par of 70 over 5,799 metres, with bubbling mud pools near the 9th (which once featured on a New Zealand postage stamp), a geothermal crater guarding the 14th, and a steaming creek running through holes 3 to 5. Now trading as Ariki Kapakapa Golf Rotorua, the club celebrated its centenary in 2006 and has hosted stars including Gene Sarazen and Bobby Locke.
