GolfWise 4.0

Putaruru Golf Club has been going since 1921, one of the longest-running clubs of any kind in the town, and settled at its current Back Lichfield Road site in 1938. A 1951 land purchase allowed expansion from nine to eighteen holes, laid out by architect Mr Babbage in 1954 across rolling, park-like terrain. A 1968 fire destroyed the original clubhouse, which members rebuilt within a year. Sheep and subdivision fences that once crossed the fairways were finally removed in 1970.
