Pungarehu
New Zealand > North Island > Taranaki
Pungarehu Golf Club has found an unusual way to fund itself: rather than raffles or working bees, the rural Taranaki club keeps a flock of sheep on its course and sells them, turning the fairways into a genuine working-farm asset. It's a fitting fit for the district's pastoral character, with grazing stock a constant presence on the eighteen holes. The unconventional funding model has helped keep the small club financially sound over the years.
