4.2 (Provisional rating) Otakou Golf Club plays nine holes on the Otago Peninsula near Portobello, reached via a winding road out to Harington Point. Sandy soil and flat, humpy, contoured terrain give the 3,085-metre layout a genuinely links-like feel, tempered only by pine plantings that keep it from playing as a true links. Firm, well-rolling greens far exceed expectations for such a remote setting.
