Hanmer Springs
New Zealand > South Island > Canterbury
Hanmer Springs Golf Club was established in 1911 by a group of local golf enthusiasts who built the eighteen-hole course from scratch, with early leadership drawn from station owners and staff at the nearby hospital. As Hanmer itself transformed from a small rural settlement into a thermal-pool resort town, the club's membership shifted too, growing to 243 members by its centenary in 2011. Today it plays through some of North Canterbury's finest alpine scenery, still known as a friendly, welcoming club more than a century on.
