Great Barrier Island Golf Club plays nine holes with alternate tees for an 18-hole round, framed by Te Ahumata (the White Cliffs) and Hirakimata (Mount Hobson) five minutes from Claris. With around 120 members, roughly half from off the island, the course is entirely volunteer-maintained, and the clubhouse opens on Thursdays and Sundays for play and light refreshments.
