4.2 (Provisional rating) Clinton Golf Club has run since 1937 in the self-styled "five-horse town" of Clinton, South Otago, a nine-hole course across gently rolling hill country that makes for an easy, pleasant walk. Wide fairways broken up by trees keep small, flat greens genuinely defended, with the standout par-3 6th - "Little Moe" - playing 118 metres over a gully with the road running dangerously close behind the green. Modest green fees match the unpretentious, community character of a club that's kept local golf alive for nearly ninety years.
